SAFETY

Environmental, Health and Safety Policy

Southside is committed to promoting, creating and maintaining a safe and healthy workplace and to improving the environmental quality of our operations and surrounding communities. This effort begins with providing a safe physical plant and hazard-free working conditions. To accomplish these goals, Southside adheres to the following Environmental, Health & Safety (EH&S) principles:
  • Minimize any significant adverse environmental impacts or safety/health risks to employees and the public, through the use of EH&S management procedures and planning;
  • Maintain compliance with all applicable federal, state and local regulations and laws;
  • Prevent pollution, reduce waste emissions and commit to improving workplace safety;
  • Secure and maintain all applicable permits and other regulatory approvals required for operations;
  • Continually assess and anticipate future EH&S laws and regulations and the effects they may have on our operations.

Environmental, Health & Safety Management System

Southside maintains an Environmental, Health & Safety Management System designed to ensure that our environmental objectives are met. Our Director of Operations, with a degree in Environmental Health Science, is responsible for establishing an EH&S strategy and implementing and tracking its compliance. Plant managers and supervisors are responsible for safety and environmental performance, while employees are required to comply with all environmental and safety laws, as well as Southside’s EH&S procedures.

Workplace Safety

Southside has a strong commitment to workplace safety, and we integrate EH&S procedures into our daily business operations. Management regularly reviews safety programs, and managers and employees participate in E&S awareness training. Southside encourages employees to be involved with all aspects of the company’s EH&S program.
